Let’s be honest: “we” cyclists have probably all received the funny but very impractical pizza cutter or a shirt with a more or less entertaining slogan on it. As thoughtful as these gifts are – because the gift giver has obviously recognized our passion for cycling – there are better ways to invest the money. I’ve put together a guide to the best, most practical and coolest road bike gifts for anyone who wants to make an impression with their present this year. Sorted from cheap ideas to expensive high-end products.

Asssavers: Mudguards for every bike

Starting from 11€: visit the Shop*

Looking for a practical and well thought-out little something? Then I can highly recommend the Ass Saver. This compact splash guard is quick and easy to attach and provides reliable protection against dirt and water. It is lightweight, effective and fits every road and gravel bike – ideal for anyone who likes to ride in changeable weather conditions. A small but useful gift with numerous beautiful patterns, or in classic black.

Maurten Test-Package

15,99€ here: to the shop*

If you want to give a gift that will really help someone to achieve their goals in the upcoming year, then the Maurten test pack with gels, bars and drinks is a great choice! Maurten is probably THE house number for well-tolerated sports nutrition on the market, which also works perfectly during intensive training sessions or long tours. Perfect for increasing endurance and performance!

Neat Components Mount for Garmin Varia

Costs €35.99, -10% with newsletter registration here: to the shop**

For the rider who already has everything: the mount that fits perfectly on their own seatpost. But there’s a tiny challenge: as the person giving the gift, you need to know the exact roadbike model the lucky recipient rides. A quick look at the Strava stats or an inconspicuous message will make you smarter and you can order. The mounting solution without the cumbersome rubber bands is simply super clean and blends in perfectly with the bike.

Keego Titan-bottles

Finally available again for 39,90€ in 5 colors, click here to go to the store*
You can get 10% off your order with the code “NORA10”

Admittedly, the stylish titanium bottles are no longer an insider tip. And rightly so: even if you’ve had Iso-Powder & Co in your bottle, the next fillings don’t automatically taste the same, as you would expect from conventional plastic bottles. But: after a fire in the factory, the Viennese start-up was unable to produce for a long time in 2024. However, the bottles are available again just in time for Christmas and I have to say: after more than 2 years of long-term testing, I am still completely convinced. And they also look really good!

Personalized road bike bags from Reisefix

Between 65€ (snack bag) and 200€ (saddle bag): shop here

Ideal for anyone who appreciates something special: Road bike bags where the fabrics and the cut can be perfectly adapted to your own needs and tastes. I actually asked my family for these great bags for my thirtieth birthday! I was particularly taken with the leo fabric and of course I would have loved to have all the bags. I topped up my budget a bit and ended up with: saddle bag Egon, handlebar bag Bernd Fidlock+, top tube bag & Bemment bag Karin. It’s best to simply give a gift voucher as a present, then the person can customize their own bags.

Clip Clap cleat adapter for normal shoes

From 79€ here: to the shop*

How many times have I cursed my backpack with my change of shoes on the way to the bike repair shop I trust (once through the entire city)? Changing to flat pedals every time would be too much of a hassle for me. But it could be so easy! Shortly afterwards, I was surprised to see an ad for Clip Clap’s easy-to-lace pedal plates. The price tag is a bit steep for what it actually is, but it’s one of those gifts that you don’t treat yourself to, but are very happy to receive as a present.

Garmin Varia Radar rear light

Currently on offer (-50€) for 149,99€: Click here to go to the shop**

An absolutely ingenious item that I have already given to my husband: the combination of rear light and sensor that shows approaching cars from behind on the bike computer. Let’s be honest: before you use it for the first time, you might think what a difference it makes when you can see the cars behind you. In practice, however, it’s really very convenient, because you can also see at what speed the cars are coming and long before you can hear them. Especially in winter, when hats cover your ears, this is a clear gain in comfort and I don’t know anyone who has switched to the Varia rear light once and then back again. So if the person you’re giving the gift to doesn’t already have this, it’s a pretty “safe board”.

Redshift Sports illuminated SPD pedals

Currently 172€ with free shipping here: to the shop*

What an “influencer” gives as a Christmas present? Someone in my family was hit by a car this year, allegedly simply overlooked despite wearing bright clothes. Lights that move attract the most attention, so I think these pedals are the perfect gift for anyone who rides at dusk and in the dark. They are available for SPD cleats as well as flat pedals, and the SPD pedals can also be used without the “light holder”. And the small rechargeable batteries can be easily clicked off, so it is not necessary to get the whole bike charged.

Gore Spinshift rain jacket

Currently €187, and until March 2025 you’ll get -30% off all non-reduced items with “UNICORNCYCLING30” here: to the shop**

The Gore Spinshift rain jacket is, you could say, a development of the well-known Gore Shakedry, but with a significantly smaller price tag! It provides reliable protection from rain and wind without restricting freedom of movement and fits perfectly in the racing bike position. Its breathable material ensures that you don’t overheat even during exertion. It is also lightweight and compact so that it can be easily stowed in the back pocket. For me: definitely a must-have in every cycling closet, especially in the beautiful colors that are available.

Bonus gifts for everyone who likes to take videos & photos

Insta 360 Go 3 camera

From 359€, with this link you get free equipment (depending on the package you choose): To the shop*

Are you looking for an unusual Christmas present for a passionate cyclist? The Insta360 GO 3 camera is a slightly different action camera and much simpler and more practical than the well-known market leader – in my opinion. It can be easily attached to the jersey with a magnet and records razor-sharp, stable videos. Perfect for capturing adventures, training sessions or competitions from unique perspectives. The camera is ultra-light, handy and offers fantastic image quality – ideal for anyone who wants to document their cycling tours and share them with others. A practical and innovative gift!

Hover Air X1 Pro self-flying drone

From 549€, click here to go to the shop*

Until 5.12, you’ll get 10€ off with code

HOVERBFCM

For cyclists who like to capture their tours, this “selfie drone” or flying action camera could be an exciting gift idea. It is small, lightweight (fits in the middle jersey pocket) and easy to operate – ideal for capturing special moments from the air while on the move. With features such as automatic tracking, dolly track (i.e. filming from the front) and birds-eye view, the camera scores just as highly as it does with 4K video & photo recording. I bought the X1 Pro Standard model (without the bundle and other extras) a few months ago and am very happy with the results, even if it hit a tree a few times.

Transparency: Products with * are affiliate links. I am a mom on maternity leave & a cyclist myself. If I earn a small percentage (usually 5-15%) from your order, the money goes directly towards replacing wear parts on my bike. I have an ongoing cooperation with manufacturers of products marked with **. This allows me to test the products free of charge. Neither affects my judgment. I promise.
